Happy New Year!

Hey, I'm on island time. It's close!

2008 is going to be a very good year, trust me, I know these things. Come on..would someone from the Caribbean lie to you???

What do people that live in the Caribbean "do"??? We do the same things that people anywhere else do. We work, we play, we raise kids, we stop by the Domino Club for a shot of Mama Wanna on the way home from work, we feed the beer drinking pigs.......you know, same stuff that someone in Detroit does every day.

We do holidays really well. We've been holidaying since Thanksgiving. We kind of roll from one to the next, Thanksgiving, Hurricane Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas, 2nd Day Christmas, Old Year's Night, New Years Day, Carnival Juvey, Children's Carnival Parade and then the Adult's Carnival Parade. Tomorrow is the Children's Parade and SAturday is the big day...all of the holiday spirit comes boiling to the surface and explodes in sequins and sparkle, mud and paint! If you've never seen carnival in the Caribbean, it needs to be on your list of things that you want to do before this wild ride we call life is over.

Carnival is alive! It sweeps you up and carries you with it down the street. There's not a still but in the crowd! Everybody and I mean everybody is dancing to the music! It doesn't matter if you can dance or not...you dance! And food...oh the food! And we have no open container laws so there is plenty of ice cold beer and rums flow like water! Flavored rums, dark rum, light rum...rum...rum...and more rum! Carnival in the Caribbean! There is nothing like it!

All of this and much much more influence my glass. How could it not?

Welcome to the islands! It's 85 degrees and there is a light breeze blowing.
